The number of security incidents in the cryptocurrency industry has increased significantly compared to the same period last year. According to CertiK Alert monitoring, there have been 33 security incidents (including phishing) since the beginning of September, resulting in losses of approximately $55 million. This is a sharp contrast to the 18 incidents and $144 million in losses reported during the same period in 2023.
The rise in security incidents highlights the ongoing challenges faced by the cryptocurrency industry in protecting user funds and combating malicious activities. Despite efforts to strengthen security measures, the complexity and decentralized nature of the blockchain ecosystem make it vulnerable to attacks.
