According to BlockBeats, on September 19, Decrypt reported that Louisiana officially began accepting cryptocurrency payments, becoming the latest state in the United States to accept digital currency.
Louisiana Treasurer John Fleming announced that residents can now use Bitcoin, Bitcoin Lightning Network, and USDC to pay for various state government services. Louisiana has received its first cryptocurrency payment via the Bitcoin Lightning Network to pay a fine from the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. Fleming emphasized that although cryptocurrency payments are accepted, the funds received will be converted to US dollars to avoid volatility risks.
